Possessing the Land Series – Week 1
This message launches us into a powerful exploration of what it means to truly possess the promises God has given us. Drawing from the book of Joshua and the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to the Promised Land, we’re challenged to move beyond a ‘set me free’ mindset into a ‘take hold’ mentality. The distinction is profound: God delivers us from bondage, but He calls us to actively possess our inheritance. We discover that two generations of Israelites experienced God’s power in the wilderness—the miracles, the manna, the supernatural provision—yet only one generation entered the Promised Land. Why? The answer lies in belief translated into obedient action. The first generation saw miracles but never possessed their inheritance because they didn’t truly believe. This reveals a sobering truth: supernatural power alone doesn’t transform cities or advance God’s kingdom. We need more than blessing—we need believers willing to step into the impossible promises God has declared over us. The New Testament parallel is clear: we’re not fighting physical enemies but spiritual forces, and we’re called to drive out demonic influence while inviting those living under that influence into kingdom life. The question confronting us is whether we’ll be a generation that truly believes God and takes Him at His word, willing to look foolish, willing to risk, willing to tread on every promise within the boundaries He’s established.
