Jesus Said – Week 10 – The Helper
At the heart of this message lies a revolutionary truth from John 16:7 – Jesus told his disciples it was better for him to leave so the Helper could come. Better? How could anything be better than having Jesus physically present? Yet this reveals God’s magnificent plan: the Holy Spirit wasn’t sent as a temporary boost for the early church, but as the Father’s permanent provision for supernatural living across all generations. We’re invited to understand that the same power that enabled Jesus to perform miracles is available to us today. The Greek word for ‘greater works’ suggests both intensity and geographical reach – meaning we’re not just called to repeat what Jesus did, but to expand it further through the Spirit’s power. This isn’t about our abilities improving; it’s about recognizing that God wants to operate through us as willing vessels. The question becomes: are we positioning ourselves to receive and partner with the Holy Spirit? Are we creating the stable, welcoming environment where the dove can land and remain? This message challenges us to move beyond treating the Holy Spirit as merely our conscience or moral guide, and instead to embrace Him as the personal, powerful presence who sets God’s people on fire – enabling the impossible and making us conduits of divine activity in everyday life.
